Complete Prototype Body (Replica)

Hand-forged sheet metal contained many bumps and joints. After assembly, the body was soldered and worked to straighten out the surface. Wet rubbing after application of primer gave it a more complete finish before painting the body color. This display shows the body after the painting is finished. In subsequent processes, the engine, chassis and interior and exterior fittings are assembled. Prototype cars assembled in the prototype plant were named Model A1, the first such car being completed in May 1935.
