Clutch

The movement of clutches linked to a pedal determines whether power is transmitted to the left or right stick. Pressing the pedal causes one of the clutches to catch onto the part of the link mechanism that activates one stick, while releasing the pedal engages the other clutch and activates the other stick. Weaving is therefore performed by pressing or releasing the pedal to propel one shuttle then, after beating, operating the pedal to propel the other shuttle, and so on.
