Toyoda Power Loom

Industrialization of Japanese textile industry

This was Japan's first power loom in invented by Sakichi Toyoda in 1896.

It was made of wood and iron to keep it inexpensive. Since several automatic devices, such as a weft stop motion, were equipped, fabric quality was dramatically improved and productivity rose by up to 20 times with one person operating three to four looms. Toyoda Power Loom(Replica) on display was recently referring to the loom manufactured in 1899.
